Broker's Comments
The Danish LM27 is perhaps the world’s most successful small wheelhouse sailing cruiser, with over 1,500 built since the designs introduction in 1975. Her hull lines (heavy long-keel double-ender) and robust construction owe much to the traditional Scandinavian “Colin Archer” sailing lifeboats, long regarded by many as the epitome of seaworthiness in their original (larger) form. Performance under sail is reported to be surprisingly good for what is after all a motor sailer.
In terms of accommodation, she is cavernous for a 27 footer with not an inch of space wasted. A forepeak double is forward of a comfortable two berth saloon and a further two people can bunk down in the cockpit beneath a full canvas enclosure (the one photographed is her winter cover, the ‘in commission’ cover is blue). She can be helmed from the cockpit in the proper manner under sail, yet a cosy pilothouse offers a second internal steering position for the normal British summer! She has a powerful and superbly engineered Bukh motor and a very recent headsail. Her substantial yard trolley is available if required.
All in all she is in excellent condition for her age, is stored ashore in the owner’s barn and only for sale due to ill health
