Vilamoura, a resort town situated in The Algarve’s Golden Triangle, is an ideal destination for year-round sunshine, particularly during the increasingly popular ‘shoulder season’, addressing key traveller concerns in 2025.

With rising temperatures and weather-related risks, travellers are seeking more comfortable and less crowded travel windows. A recent Virtuoso survey highlights this shift, with 76% of travellers now preferring off-season travel. As airfares continue to rise 22% year-on-year, shoulder season travel becomes not just more appealing, but more economical.

Following this trend, thousands of hotels in Greece and Spain are now staying open until late October and even November to meet growing demand. TUI has been extending its summer season to allow for more flexibility, signalling a significant change in travel patterns.

Vilamoura offers a perfect alternative to peak summer travel. Boasting Portugal’s largest marina, five championship golf courses, a two-kilometre beachfront, world-class equestrian facilities and an environmental park, the destination provides an exceptional experience without the intense heat and overwhelming crowds of July and August.

With temperatures ranging from 17°C to 24°C during April to June and September to November, the warm weather in these ‘shoulder seasons’ enhances Vilamoura’s charm as a holiday destination.
