Two of Apreamare gozzo motorboats race across the sea

Italian boatbuilder Apreamare is taking its traditional boat building skills – which it describes as artisan and ‘ancient’ – across the globe with new appointments in its dealer network.

The company says it has ‘strategically spread’ its dealerships throughout the world and the network now includes new partners in the USA with Apreamare California; in the Middle East with Terra Limited; in Turkey with Blc Yachts; and in Cyprus with Pedalion Yachting. These add to existing relationships with dealers in Spain, the Netherlands, France, Montenegro, Corsica, Japan and Italy.

“We have always been committed to building long-lasting relationships with our commercial partners in the interest of mutual growth,” says Giovanni Aprea, sales manager of Apreamare. “Our selection of dealers focuses on those who have demonstrated passion for the brand, committing themselves not only financially, but in terms of time and resources to the development of the brand, thus ensuring prompt and impeccable service to every customer.

“As the sales network expands, we also look at the quality of our presence through partners who are true ambassadors of Apreamare in their area. This process is certainly longer and more complex, but it has allowed us to handpick nautical professionals who truly carry the brand in their hearts.”

Apreamare dates back to 1849 when Giovanni Aprea (not the current sales manager obviously) handbuilt rowing and sailing boats used for fishing in Sorrento. Those were based on the shape and form of the traditional ‘gozzo sorrentino’. In the years following the World War Two, car engines were fitted to the boats and the yard started to produce the first ‘gozzi’ used as pleasure boats. That sector quickly surpassed the fishing boats it’d continued to make. Cataldo Aprea joined the family boatyard in 1973 and decided to go on alone, opening the Apreamare boatyard in 1983. he was then joined by Salvatore Pollio in 1988 (Pollio died in 2023). In 2001 Apreamare joined the Ferretti Group but in 2010 the Aprea and Pollio families took back the direct control of Apreamare.

Now Apreamare continues to build its iconic walkaround gozzos and has introduced a new flagship, the Maestro 88.

The company says the strengthened dealer network will be able to provide customers with an even faster and localised level of assistance, improving key elements of customer satisfaction. In July 2023, the company signed an exclusive dealership agreement for northern Italy with Sorrento-based Pedetti Yacht. Pedetti distributes the entire Apreamare range in all regions of northern Italy via two of its offices in Liguria (Lavagna) and Friuli (Aprilia Marittima).
