Australian watersport brand Zhik partners with the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein
Australian watersport brand Zhik is partnering with the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein (NRV) from the 2025 event season.
This partnership brings Zhik’s marine performance apparel to one of Europe’s most prestigious sailing clubs.
“We’re excited to welcome Zhik as our official clothing partner,” says Tobias König, chairman of NRV. “Zhik’s relentless drive for innovation aligns with our mission to elevate regatta sailing at the highest level. Zhik’s technology-driven approach to performance gear will give our sailors the edge they need.”
The venture will be further strengthened by Zhik’s German distributor, Peter Frisch GmbH, and Hamburg-based dealer, Yachtausrüstung Hamburg, ensuring NRV members have direct access to the latest Zhik gear.
As reported by MIN in January, Zhik says the marine clothing industry needs to align with broader environmental goals while staying on the cutting edge of innovation.
Zhik CEO Mat Belcher, two-time Olympic champion and former NRV Olympic team sailor, says: “As someone who’s sailed under the NRV flag, I know firsthand how critical top-tier equipment is to success on the water. I also have incredible memories here, sailing for the NRV Olympic team for several years. The professionalism, the passion for both dinghy and yacht racing, and the club’s approach to supporting their youth programs makes this partnership even more special. It’s fantastic to now join forces and build something long-term together. Johannes Polgar, Zhik’s european sales manager, also has a strong NRV background. As part of the NRV Olympic team, he competed at the Olympic Games and became a Starboat European Champion.
