Barton Marine unveils redesigned Genoa cars for 2025
Barton Marine has introduced a newly engineered range of Genoa cars, marking the culmination of several years of research and development.
Barton says the 2025 product line – revealed at METSTRADE 2024 in Amsterdam – focuses on durability, functionality and a contemporary design for sailors and OEMs globally.
The cars are made from lightweight aluminium and are available in both pin and towable versions. They are anodised in black or spectro silver, offering versatility to suit different preferences. Two sizes, 25mm and 32mm GT, are available to fit existing track layouts, with an additional heavy-duty 32mm option for larger craft and higher load capacities. Inserts are also provided to ensure compatibility with tracks on yachts worldwide, making installing new tracks unnecessary.
The Genoa cars are designed for performance and longevity, featuring anodised aluminium for enhanced protection against marine conditions and corrosion-resistant nylon inserts for smooth, low-friction operation. The pin-down versions incorporate easy-to-grip plungers that can be operated with gloves or wet hands, while maintaining a streamlined design that reduces the risk of line snags.
The 25mm cars are suitable for yachts ranging from 7 to 10m (23-33ft) and have a maximum break load of 2280kg (5016lbs). These cars are compatible with lines up to 16mm (5/8”) and weigh 247g (8.7oz) and 297g (10.5oz). The towable track end with becket is designed for lines up to 8mm (5/16”) and weighs 121g (4.3oz).
The 32mm cars are intended for yachts between 9 and 15m (30-49ft). The GT versions have a maximum break load of 3280kg (7216lbs), while the heavy-duty (HD) versions can handle up to 5970kg (13134lbs). These cars are compatible with lines up to 16mm (5/8”) and can take two lines simultaneously for various rigging requirements. Their weight ranges from 561g (19.8oz) to 820g (28.9oz).
