C-Map improves coverage across Europe
C-Map has enhanced its digital marine cartography for inland and coastal regions in the UK, France, Denmark and Portugal, providing improved data and new lake additions across several countries.
The recent updates include 40 additional lakes in France, Denmark and the UK, along with refinements to the waterways in Northwestern France, featuring more accurate shoreline details, bridges and lock information.
“We are excited to roll out a new update to our C-Map users in Europe, which will significantly transform their navigation experience across the region,” says Jakob Svensson, C-Map product manager. “This year, we have improved over 280 lakes in France alone, with new bathymetry, providing accurate shorelines and great bathymetry in both Vector charts and Shaded Relief layers.”
Enhancements apply to the C-Map Discover, Reveal and X Generation charts. The latest C-Map charts are available as a complimentary update for customers who have purchased and registered their chart within the last year. The updates to C-Map charts bring a range of enhancements, including refined waterways and shoreline data for Northwest France, where over 2,700 locks and 65,000 bridges are now accurately depicted, according to C-Map.
Additional improvements apply to 15 lakes in Denmark and 20 lakes in the UK, with over 280 lakes updated in France for 2024. High-resolution bathymetry and shaded relief data have also been added to coastal areas around the UK, Denmark, Northern France and Portugal.

These updates also feature standard additions across C-Map’s portfolio, including updated marina details, port plans, Notices to Mariners, electronic navigational charts (ENCs), and official paper charts. This data is included across all chart products – Max, 4D, Discover, Reveal and X Generation – within the firm’s EMEA portfolio.
These updates are now available in Discover and Reveal charts, with shaded relief and satellite overlay available in the Reveal product tier.
