Ed Balls to present keynote at British Marine National Conference
Former shadow chancellor, author and broadcaster Ed Balls will present a keynote speech at the upcoming British Marine National Conference, forecasting the future economic landscape for the marine industry.
Balls’ talk, which includes a guest panel and interactive audience Q&A session, will form part of a two-day programme at the inaugural event, to be held 15-16 March 2022, which organiser British Marine says has been curated for 300 of our industry’s top decision-makers. The conference has been developed for both inland and coastal businesses and has a focus on innovation.
Ed Balls’ keynote will form one of several scene-setters on the first day of National Conference: Innovate To Succeed 2022, which will be held at the National Conference Centre (NCC) in Solihull, in the well-connected heart of the Midlands.
The new national conference takes place 15-16 March, 2022
Delegates will be able to engage with presentations from subject matter experts, inspirational keynotes and sector-specific workshops on key areas including participation, tourism, fundraising, technology, staff retention and development, logistics, product and service innovation. Networking opportunities will be available to discuss topics of the day and make new contacts. An informal dinner and industry awards evening, presented by Ed Balls, will enable further opportunities to engage with fellow peers and celebrate industry achievements.
Balls was a political advisor, politician and shadow chancellor and was closely involved with UK and international economic policy and forecasting from 1997-2015. Following his political career, he was appointed Professor of Political Economy at King’s College, London and a Research Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School. He led a project on the evolution of central banking post-financial crisis and on the impact of Brexit on British business, UK trade and the future of Global Britain. He has given seminars at Harvard, Yale, NYU, Stanford and USC as well as regularly at King’s. He has also served as a consultant at the International Monetary Fund and at the EU.
The National Conference’s programme is overseen by a British Marine member steering group, to ensure that it provides delegates with essential inspiration, exclusive information and contacts to plan their innovative next steps in business development.
Further details of speakers and content will be announced imminently through British Marine’s communications and on the National Conference microsite.
