EPTechnologies is expanding into the United States. With a new office in Atlanta and a service and engineering hub in Los Angeles, the marine electric and hybrid propulsion company is aiming to change the American maritime industry with its sustainable, high-performance solutions.

EPTechnologies’ growth strategy has the company looking to deliver systems to local clients and business partners across the American continent.

“We are excited to amplify our presence in the American market,” says Marco Ottiker, COO and co-owner of EPTechnologies (pictured above right with company founder Kasper Falkenberg). “Our new hubs will empower us to bring high-performance, climate-friendly innovations to our American clients, leading the charge toward a more sustainable future.”

The Los Angeles service and engineering hub will help pave the way for the construction of two passenger ferries in 2025. These are being made in partnership with ZeroMar.

The companies announced an expansion of their partnership, following two years of collaboration, last October.

ZeroMar specialised in marine electrification and the partnership combines ZeroMar’s expertise in marine electrification with EPTechnologies’ advancements in electric propulsion. The partnership is focusing on the retrofitting and developing electric ferries and other zero-emission vessels to meet California’s Commercial Harborcraft regulations under the California Air Resources Board (CARB). The first project involves the Angel Island Tiburon Ferry.

These ferries result from the collaborative efforts of the US and European offices, which together aim to create the finest electric and hybrid systems, demonstrating their commitment to clean, green transportation solutions.

In Nov 2023, EPTechnologies launched a solid-state battery. According to the company, the new battery employs solid electrolytes instead of the liquid electrolytes found in conventional lithium-ion batteries. At the time, the company said that this improves safety as the flammable liquid is eliminated and reduces the risk of overheating.

EPTechnologies operates out of offices in Sønderborg, Denmark, and Reinbek, Germany, as well as the newly established US office, and has a dedicated workforce of 55 employees.
