Hill Dickinson forms strategic alliance with Marshall Islands Law Firm RSM

International maritime law firm Hill Dickinson has strengthened its global presence through a new strategic alliance with the Marshall Islands-based Reeder Simpson & Magee (RSM), expanding its offshore legal services capabilities.
Effective from Monday, February 24, 2025, the partnership marks a step in Hill Dickinson’s global growth strategy, particularly enhancing its advisory and legal opinion offerings on the Marshall Islands and Liberian law while bolstering its offshore legal jurisdictions desk in Piraeus, Greece. Both firms will maintain their independent identities and client relationships while leveraging shared resources and expertise.
RSM will relaunch its presence in Greece, rebranding as part of the strategic alliance. Previously, Reeder & Simpson P.C., led by former partner Ray Simpson, was well-regarded for its work in Marshall Islands corporate and commercial law, particularly for the Greek market and internationally.
RSM partners Dennis Reeder and Damien Magee bring substantial expertise to the table with their knowledge of corporate and maritime transactions, disputes, and legal proceedings across key international jurisdictions. Dennis Reeder, a Marshall Islands-qualified attorney, is recognised as an expert in corporate and maritime transactions and disputes. While, Damien Magee is qualified in the Marshall Islands, British Virgin Islands, and Cayman Islands, specialising in corporate and commercial law, banking, restructuring, fraud recovery, and insolvency.
Anthony Paizes, head of Ship Finance at Hill Dickinson’s Piraeus office, comments: “With Damien’s specialist expertise, the dedicated offshore jurisdictions team in Piraeus ensures our offering for the Marshall Islands and Liberian law remains of the highest quality, efficient and cost-effective. In addition to Hill Dickinson’s full-service shipping team, RSM adds further specialisations in corporate governance, shareholder disputes, offshore litigation and legal proceedings, as well as in-depth insolvency and restructuring expertise.”
Commenting on the alliance, Jasel Chauhan, head of International Finance at Hill Dickinson, says: “Damien and Dennis are the clear market leaders for both Marshall Islands and Liberian law specialisations. Dennis is the go-to attorney for Marshall Islands corporate and maritime transactions and disputes, and Damien’s specialisation in corporate and commercial law, restructuring, fraud recovery and insolvency means that our support to clients in this specialist area will be unrivalled. With offices in the Marshall Islands and the Cayman Islands, RSM will complement Hill Dickinson’s maritime and yachting network internationally.”
RSM partner Damien Magee expresses enthusiasm about the partnership and adds: “Relaunching Reeder Simpson & Magee, together with Hill Dickinson and its dedicated team in Piraeus, gives RSM the opportunity to bring back a much-loved brand presence in Greece, which Ray Simpson pioneered, and many will remember fondly. Both Dennis and I look forward to reconnecting with our loyal client base in Greece and throughout shipping and yachting markets internationally.”
This move follows Hill Dickinson’s recent international expansion efforts, including new operations in Limassol, Cyprus, with G Zambartas LLC, a formal law alliance with PDLegal in Singapore and a collaboration agreement with SMB Law in Geneva established in October 2023.
