IBEX education presentation

The International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX) has announced several new features in its IBEX Education Conference. Notable additions for this year include a main stage and a leadership education track.

IBEX, recognised as a leading trade event in North America for the recreational marine industry, returns to Tampa Convention Center in Florida from 1-3 October 2024.

The IBEX main stage, situated in the seminar hallway on the first floor, will cover topics related to leadership, workforce, and industry trends. The schedule for the main stage includes panel discussions, the seminar series, and free programmes.

The technical Seminar Series, organised in collaboration with ABYC, NMEA, IBEX co-owner NMMA and Professional BoatBuilder, spans 10 tracks that cover various aspects of boatbuilding. The series offers over 50 seminars addressing both core skills training and emerging trends within the marine industry.

The newly introduced leadership education track is tailored for C-suite participants and includes sessions on the main stage.

On Wednesday, 2 October at 8:30am, Aaron Porter, editor of Professional BoatBuilder magazine, and Ben Stein, editor/publisher of Panbo.com, will moderate a panel discussion titled “Avoiding Contradictions in Technology.” This session will explore how to manage the longevity of boat designs in relation to the shorter lifespans of electric, electronic, and other critical components.

Another notable session is the “Visionary Leadership Panel Discussion: The Driving Force Behind the Marine Industry’s Small & Medium Sized Businesses,” moderated by Thomas Dammrich on Wednesday, 2 October at 11 a.m., which will include a catered lunch.

Additional leadership seminars will address topics such as manufacturing facility improvements and the importance of robust record-keeping practices in avoiding legal pitfalls, as well as workforce trends and development.

The IBEX Education Conference will also feature established programmes essential for professional development, including the free Tech Talk workshops and pre-conference sessions.

The complete Education Conference schedule is available on the IBEX website.

“A key component to the show is our vibrant and exciting Education Conference,” says Anne Dunbar, IBEX executive director. “Not only is IBEX the place that the industry comes together to do business, but it is a place to learn and challenge us for the overall benefit of the industry as a whole.

“We are very excited to expand the offerings this year with the addition of the leadership education track and unveil the main stage as a dedicated place for exhibitors and attendees to learn from experts in their fields.”

Registration for this year’s show is now open. The education conference packages and tickets are available in the registration process, with early bird pricing until 30 August.
