IFBSO appoints Dr. Jouko Huju as executive director
The International Federation of Boat Show Organisers (IFBSO) has appointed Dr. Jouko Huju as its new executive director. Based in Amsterdam, IFBSO represents around 30 major international marine events globally.
As executive director, Huju will oversee daily operations, service delivery, and advocacy initiatives within the organisation. Earlier this year, he authored a report on IFBSO’s structure, challenges, and the strategic adjustments required for future growth. Huju will collaborate with the IFBSO Executive Committee to implement the new strategy.
Niels Klarenbeek, president of IFBSO, says: “We are glad to have Jouko on board to chart a course for attractive, inclusive, and sustainable boat shows, enhanced member engagement, and strengthened cooperation within the leisure marine industry.”
Huju brings nearly 30 years of experience in the boating industry to his new role.
He served as CEO of the Finnish Marine Industries Federation (Finnboat) for 20 years and was a board member of the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA) for 14 years, including a four-year term as president. Huju is also a co-founder of the Global Marine Business Advisors group.
