Training
First off there is our intensive 3 day training plan for all new business owners. This ensures that every new Boatshed office has a good grounding in the basics of yacht brokerage and a good idea of the things that makes Boatshed stand out from the crowd. You won’t just find out how to add boats to the software and process the sale we’ll also go through some ideas of how to get the listings in the first place, how to get the buyers, how to ensure your website get’s on to the first page of google and the other search engines and how to keep it there. We have a very comprehensive training pack which you keep for reference after training and also an online systems manual you can refer to.
Boatshed Software
The Boatshed web based brokerage management system handles all data and customer information. It allows customers to view a very detailed description and up to 80 photos of each boat we have for sale. We also have a translation feature which currently allows the majority of this information to be automatically translated into 6 different languages to ensure the widest audience possible for every boat we list. And because of the way we’ve designed the translation system it’s very easy to add new languages as we need to.
The system is easy and simple to use for both customers and brokers and we are continually updating and improving it. It automatically checks certain information and pictures are added correctly and guides you through the uploading of boat information but that’s only half the story. Boatshed have been in business for over 10 years so we have got a huge data base of information to call on and as we log each time someone views a specific boat we have a simple and easy to use list of profiled customers.
All this information is stored on dedicated, commercially provided secure servers so there’s no need for our business owners to worry about back-ups, data protection and security
On line systems manual
It’s the complete instruction book for running a Boatshed business and everyone within Boatshed has access to it so you can look things up any time you need to. It covers everything from setting up a business with an easy to use checklist, how to use the Boatshed software, advise on the nitty gritty of yacht brokerage such as registration and taxation all the way through to expanding your business with agents and eventually selling your established business when you finally do decide to retire.
Support
We also have a one to one support system for those more tricky questions provided by our HQ team who are all seasoned old hands in the yacht brokerage business and know the Boatshed system inside out and there’s our broker forum which allows you to keep in touch with other Boatshed brokers and swap hints, tips, advice and leads with one another.
Third party websites
The Boatshed brand is growing and well known but we know that some people prefer to use different boating websites and these are more popular in some areas than others and for certain types of boats so the Boatshed system allows our brokers to use these sites to advertise their boats with literally just the click of a button through our pioneering data feed system.
Monthly news letter and awards
Another way we help Boatshed brokers keep in touch with one another is through our monthly Boatshed Bugle which is packed with ideas, advice information and statistics to allow our brokers to see how they are doing and how they can improve if they feel the need to. We also hold an annual conference for a big get together where we discuss all things Boatshed, have guest speakers to provide an alternative view on brokerage issues and we have the Boatshed awards to reward our outstanding brokers and add a little bit of competition into the business.
Graphics department
We have an in house graphics department making it inexpensive and easy to get your advertising, vehicle branding, branded clothing and promotional items just right and being one big organization we have the clout to get discounts on these things too.
International Boat shows
Being a yacht broker involves being out there and getting known by not just the boat owning and buying public but also by the marine industry so Boatshed attend several International Boat shows each year holding our famous fizz@five parties every day. We encourage our brokers to come along to shows but as we know how important it is for them to be able to network at the show, the stand is always manned by a team of highly skilled and knowledgeable Boatshed personnel.
