Jeanne Socrates joins the Guinness Book of World Records
Boatshed.com join Commodore Yachting at the Southampton Boat show to celebrate and raise a glass with Jeanne Socrates as she enters the Guinness Book of World Records becoming the oldest woman to sail non stop, round the world.
Jeanne Socrates, aboard S/V Nereida, successfully completed a non stop, single-handed, unassisted sail around the world at 02:26 Monday 8th July 2013, when she passed Ogden Point at the entrance to Victoria Harbour, 259 days after leaving Victoria in October 2012.
This was her third attempt to circumnavigate solo, non-stop and unassisted - east about via Cape Horn and the Southern Ocean - all attempts made without the help of a shore-based support team ....
"My team is simply 'Nereida' and me!"
