METSTRADE: Jefa Steering enters powerboat market with Electric Steer
Jefa Steering has unveiled its latest innovation, the Electric Steer, an electric steering solution for outboard engines aimed at transforming powerboat handling. Nominated for the prestigious 2024 DAME Design Awards, the Electric Steer will be showcased at METSTRADE 2024 in Hall 13, with a live demonstration available at Jefa’s stand (12.540).
The Jefa Electric Steer aims to simplify steering systems by eliminating the need for traditional hydraulic or cable-based setups. With easy installation requiring only a connection to the engine, steering head, and a 12V marine battery, it claims to offer quick, precise steering with a rapid five-turn hard-over response. Compatible with various autopilot systems, it is an ideal solution for both new builds and retrofits.
With over 25 years of experience in sailboat steering into this product, Jefa Steering is now extending its reach to the powerboat market.
“It’s an honour to have received a DAME nomination on this product,” says Stig Jensen, managing director at Jefa Steering. “Back in 2014 our Traveller System for sailing boats was the overall winner in the awards.
“A lot has changed since then and we are honoured to have a DAME nomination on Electric
Steer, our first product for the powerboat market.”
Electric Steer is autopilot-ready and compatible with a wide range of autopilot brands. According to the manufacturer, whether for new installations or retrofits, it can be completed in a fraction of the time compared to traditional hydraulic or conduit-based steering systems. The product is available with various mounting kits.
