The Fédération des Industries Nautiques (FIN) – the French federation for the nautical sector – has announced that the Nautic-en-Seine boat show, originally scheduled for 1 April 2025 on the banks of the River Seine in Paris, will not take place.

The federation says the decision was made in light of current market conditions, which FIN believes no longer guarantees the full success of the show’s first edition.

FIN notes that the troubled project, which was postponed from its original October 2024 dates several months ago, was developed following extensive consultations in the first half of 2023. The show was originally conceived as a reinvention of the Nautic Paris boat show that was held indoors, in the Porte de Versailles.

“Everyone praised the quality of the project prepared by the federation’s operational teams,” says Fabrice Lacoume, chair of the FIN trade fair commission. “This ambitious project met the demands expressed 18 months ago. It was currently the subject of intensive discussions both with government departments regarding administrative authorisations and with our local partners to achieve the best economic balance.

“Despite this work, we have to recognise that the situation has changed in the space of a year, with the instability of the market due to external economic factors impacting our prospects and weakening the project. The pre-marketing phase launched over the last few months means that we can’t continue to develop this new show with any peace of mind.”

Paris River Seine

The show was scheduled for 1 April 2025 on the banks of the Seine in Paris.

Jean-Paul Chapeleau, president of the FIN, adds: ‘FIN’s primary vocation is to strengthen the French marine leisure industry. That’s why we collectively felt it was important to keep the show in Paris. But our responsibility is also to guarantee that a certain level of risk is not crossed, including for the trade federation, and to take into account a number of contingencies.

“The debates within our board have shown that the context is no longer favourable. It’s a decision we certainly regret, but one we fully accept. This will not prevent us from continuing to consider other solutions.”

The news comes just weeks after organisers of Boatlife, the three-year-old UK boat show scheduled to take place from 6 to 9 February 2025 in Birmingham, has been cancelled.

In a statement, FIN expressed its gratitude to its partners, including the Hauts de Seine departmental council, the city of Boulogne, Haropa Port and Voies Navigables de France, as well as government services and all industry professionals who supported the project in recent months.
