Pip Hare to open BoatLife Live in February
Pip Hare, the 8th woman in history to complete the Vendee Globe, will open the inaugural BoatLife Live on 17 February 2022 at the NEC Birmingham.
The celebrated sailor will officially open the new boat show to visitors and the media before joining Mark Covell on the show stage. Hare and Covell will chat about her experiences, motivations and how her boating journey started from the landlocked east of England.
Richard Dove, BoatLife Events, says: “There was only one choice for us. Pip’s a great advocate for boating and captures the hearts of so many people. We are delighted she will be at the show to kick start what will be a jam-packed event.”
Hare adds: “I’m honoured to be opening the BoatLife Live show. I really want to help encourage as many people as possible to get out on the water and experience the freedom of sailing, boating or whatever you choose to do. So I’m delighted to be able to welcome people to what promises to be a great celebration of boats and boating.”
The show is also running a competition on social media to give one lucky person, group of friends or family, the chance to help open the show and the cut the ribbon. Show exhibitor, Freedom Boat Club will also provide a skippered boat trip and lunch in Portsmouth for the winners. To apply, BoatLife is asking followers to create one-minute video to share why they should open the show.
Visitors will see over 100 boats and guests will be spoilt for choice for inspiration. Boat brands at the show include Saxador, Fairline, Bavaria, Brig, Grandezza, Salpa, Bayliner, Cranchi, Rand and Sea-doo.
