Global marine electronics brand Raymarine has partnered with technology firm WATCHIT. The collaboration aims to improve boaters’ safety by integrating WATCHIT’s advanced anti-collision system with Raymarine’s Axiom chart plotters.

Inspired by automotive safety technology, WATCHIT’s Smart Collision Prevention System uses algorithms and sensor fusion to analyse a boat’s existing data and provide timely collision warnings. The system offers an integrated solution for safety, from collision avoidance to grounding prevention.

In addition to the chartplotters adopting the system, Raymarine‘s LightHouse charts have also been designated as the official map supplier for WATCHIT systems. The technology firm asserts this will mean users will have ‘access to high quality, up to date nautical charts, further enhancing the system’s accuracy and reliability.’

Tal Duvdevacy, CEO of WATCHIT, notes: “We’re providing boaters with an unparalleled safety solution that’s both intuitive and comprehensive.”

Michelle Hidyard, vice president of operations at Raymarine, emphasises how this move bolsters the company’s commitment to making boaters’ time on the water ‘safer and more enjoyable.’

“Our collaboration with WATCHIT aligns perfectly with our mission to deliver seamless and open integration with new products and technology, ultimately simplifying the boating experience for our Axiom users,” says Hidyard.

Duvedevacy concludes: “Our collaboration with Raymarine marks a significant milestone in marine safety technology.”

The WATCHIT and Raymarine integration is now available for compatible Axiom chartplotters.
