Lunasea – the overall winner.
Saturday 20 July 2019 saw the 15th annual Round Lundy Yacht Race take place.
Organised by the Ilfracombe Yacht Club since 2004, the Round Lundy Yacht Race has been the highlight and a firm favourite with the Bristol Channel yachting community.
This one-day race of approximately 45 miles attracts a great number of entries, who compete for individual class trophies and with the Trafalgar trophy being awarded to the overall corrected time winner.
This year the race started at 08.00 just outside of the Ilfracombe harbour. Skippers and crews were faced with challenging conditions from the start, with SW winds force 5 gusting force 7 with squally showers.
By mid-day conditions had improved with the wind settling to a force 4 to 5, and clear. Unfortunately, this did not happen soon enough for some, who were forced to retire due to the difficult conditions.
The results from the day were as follows:

Lunasea – skippered by Nick Niklasson
In a corrected time of 9:11:23
First Yacht and Class 1 winner
