RYA announce new TYHA partnership set to increase marina activity
The RYA are pleased to announce a new agreement with The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA), for the future development of both the RYA Active Marina programme and the TYHA Gold Anchor accreditation scheme.
With a shared aim of encouraging and supporting marinas to broaden and diversify their activities to meet the needs of their current and future customers, the new partnership was officially launched earlier today (24 April) at the British Marine 2019 Marina Conference in Bournemouth.
Originally designed to help owners get more out of life with their boats, the RYA Active Marina programme focuses on freedom and fun, encouraging and supporting increased berth holder activity through social, cruising and training opportunities.
As part of the new ethos, marinas will also be encouraged to implement initiatives to attract non-berth holders and younger generations to boating, through offering new and more accessible activities and opportunities to get out on the water.
In addition, the agreement will involve the instigation of a new assessment and annual engagement process for all RYA Active Marinas.
Commenting on behalf of the RYA Sport Development team, Guy Malpas said: “We are delighted to be working with The Yacht Harbour Association to further develop our Active Marina programme and increase activity and participation at marinas around the UK.
“Whether it’s freedom, adventure, visiting new places, or spending time with friends and likeminded people, boating has a lot to offer. Marinas are the gateway to the water and we look forward to working with our RYA Active Marinas to enable more people to take advantage of these fantastic opportunities.”
