Seldén Mast has launched a foldable mast climbing step. Made from anodized aluminium, Seldén says the step is ideal for helping users reach the main halyard or sail cover. It can also be strategically fitted at the head to provide a stable platform when working on instruments or installed at intervals along the mast for easier access during maintenance.

The step’s user-friendly design means it unfolds easily by pushing its lower end. When not in use, a spring-loaded locking system secures it, preventing unwanted rattling. Importantly, the moving parts of the step are engineered to avoid contact with the mast surface, thereby eliminating potential damage to the anodizing or paint.

“We are excited to introduce the Foldable Mast Climbing Step to the sailing community,” says Rich Thoroughgood, Seldén UK sales manager. “Our goal is to enhance the ease and safety of mast climbing for sailors, and this product is a testament to our commitment to innovative and practical solutions.”

These new steps are compatible with all aluminium Seldén mast sections from C139 upwards and are also suitable for most other brands of aluminium yacht spars. Each step is supplied as a ready-to-fit kit, complete with fasteners, making installation straightforward and hassle-free.

Seldén Mast – which earlier this year launched its latest series of patented Race GRIP winch handles – emphasises that these steps are designed to be used in conjunction with, not as a replacement for, standard safety equipment when going aloft.

The Foldable Mast Climbing Step (product code 508-077-10R) is priced at £60 including VAT.
