Silent-Yachts expands in Asia
Silent-Yachts has appointed Farfalla Marine has its official dealer for Asia. The company will represent the Austrian builder in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.
Founded by Austrian Michael Köhler and his wife Heike, Silent-Yachts’ craft will be built at its own shipyard in Italy and PMG Shipyard in Thailand.
Jason Hawkes, group general manager of Farfalla Marine, says: “Silent-Yachts is a perfect, modern brand to add to Farfalla Marine’s portfolio. They produce the most ‘silent’ yachts out there with their superb, beautiful and fully solar-powered catamarans.”
Silent-Yacht’s latest model of solar-powered catamaran, the Silent 60, will have its world premiere at the 2021 Cannes Yachting Festival next month, 7-12 September.
Launched earlier this year, the Silent 60 has a new high-performance hull form with a reverse bow, while signature details include long window stripes on the hull sides and more window surface overall. The 42 solar panels on the roof produce 17kWp.
It has also been built with a 13 sqm kite wing, allowing wind and solar power to be combined on windy days. Silent-Yachts says the extra propulsion reduces the consumption of the e-motors, thus extending the range and can serve as back-up propulsion for emergencies.
Last month, the Silent 60 was awarded the Gustave Trouvé Award in the ‘Electric Production Boats Over 8m/26ft’ category.
The yard’s smaller Silent 55 will also be showcased at Cannes Yachting Festival.
