Smallest Sealegs amphibious boat set for 2022
The smallest amphibious boat yet from Sealegs, which can drive up on to beaches and land, is in development. The Sealegs 3.8m Tender is due for launch in late 2022 and will open up exciting possibilities for boaters.
Like the larger craft in the range, the Sealegs 3.8m Tender can drive on land thanks to three robust tyres and permanent all-wheel-drive.
An electric motor linked to a 3kWh battery pack provides propulsion on land with a top speed of 5mph and a continuous running time of 45 minutes.
On the water, the 3.8m Tender will be powered by a 40hp outboard engine. The boat will take five passengers, has a draught of 3ft 3in (1m) when the wheels are up and a light displacement of 450kg.
The smaller design of the 3.8m Tender will allow for flexible stowage in a garage, on the mothership or on the bathing platform.
The Auckland-based company is currently accepting fully refundable deposits for the 3.8m Tender.
