Suntex acquires New York marina
Marina owner and operator Suntex Marina Investors, LLC (Suntex) has acquired Sunset Harbour on the South Shore of Long Island, New York.
This follows Suntex’s purchase of Lynn Creek Marina located on Joe Pool Lake in Grande Prairie, between Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, and Caloosa Cove Marina, located in Islamorada in the Florida Keys, both in January 2022. In December 2021, Suntex acquired another Florida property – Seahaven Marina in Dania Beach – having already taken over marinas in the Tampa Bay area and taken occupancy of the Las Olas Marina in Fort Lauderdale in October 2021. The Las Olas site is to be redeveloped with work commencing in 2022.
Its latest acquisition in Long Island, New York, has 332 wet slips for vessels up to 58-feet, an outdoor dry rack system for boats up to 26ft, as well as a catering hall, ships store, various marine service providers and a significant yard area primarily utilised for winter storage.
“We’ve been very interested in expanding our portfolio to New York for some time,” says David Filler, investments partner, Suntex Marinas. “Sunset Harbour has incredible potential for development and is ideally located to service the Long Island boating community.”
“Sunset Harbour is a beautiful facility in the heart of New York,” comments Sam Chavers, senior vice president, operations, Suntex Marinas. “A perfect complement to our other area marina, Liberty Landing, it will allow us to give our discerning guests a choice of the finest destinations in the region.”
Sunset Harbour has direct access to the Great South Bay and one of the most popular boating destinations in the New York area – Fire Island.
The marina offers amenities including a pool, playground, tiki bar, restaurant, restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, and captain’s lounge. The service team at Sunset Harbour performs haul out services, bottom jobs and other basic services and has relationships with outside subcontractors to provide full service to its customers.
The Suntex portfolio includes marinas located in California, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee and Virginia.
