Zodiac launches two electric RIBs
Zodiac is launching a range of electric RIBs, powered by Torqeedo, called eOpen.
Designed in partnership with the German leader in electric marine motors, Torqeedo, there are two models, the eOpen 3.1 and eOpen 3.4. Both models will have a range of around 50 minutes at a speed of about 12 knots, the company says.
The 3.1 and 3.4 models will be exhibited at the Cannes Yachting Festival from September 7th to 12th.
“We have designed this range for today’s and tomorrow’s consumers. Today’s pleasure boats are not accessible to all and have many obstacles: the long-term cost, maintenance, repair, ecological awareness, noise… In order to respond to these issues, it became important and urgent to imagine a range that would be part of a future-oriented approach. 100% electric, these two new models meet the new needs of customers: no maintenance, no noise, no servicing, less pollution, simple and responsive driving, and an affordable price. Electric mobility is gaining ground all around us, and as the market leader in RIBs, we couldn’t afford to miss out! Torqeedo was the ideal partner to develop these new products,” explains Fanny Revert-Ciavattini, product marketing manager.
“We were thrilled to partner with Zodiac on their eOpen line of electric RIBs. It’s an iconic, yet an innovative company that has a finger on the pulse of what customers want, and when,” said Dr Michael Rummel, managing director of Torqeedo GmbH.
